Beckett Genuardi

Music follows 7-year-old Beckett Genuardi everywhere, even into the waiting room for his routine cardiology appointments.

“It’s always around him,” said Taylor Genuardi, Beckett’s mother. “It just makes me so happy because I think music is so important.”

At just two months old, the music almost stopped. Beckett went into critical heart failure and relied on a Berlin Heart, a mechanical support device designed for infants awaiting transplant. Ten days later, he received a new heart.

Today, Beckett returns to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital every three months for follow-ups with his cardiologist. Though transplant remains part of his everyday life, it doesn’t define him.

Beyond his medical appointments, Beckett’s world revolves around music and creativity. He shares his love of music with his father through their online channel, plays the piano and dreams of turning his passion into a career someday. Inspired by the doctors and nurses who cared for him, he also talks about becoming a pediatric heart doctor.

Wherever life leads him—music, medicine or both—Beckett is already proving that a transplanted heart can carry extraordinary dreams.
