Erica Schooley Thomas

Erica Schooley Thomas spent much of her life struggling to breathe, yet she sang with ease. When she died from an asthma attack at age 30, her parents discovered a final act of kindness they never knew about. Erica had quietly registered as an organ donor when renewing her driver license.

“She often said that if something happened to her, and she could help someone else, she wanted to do exactly that,” said Ronda Moses, Erica’s mother.

Ronda is proud of the legacy her daughter left behind. She finds comfort in caring for Erica’s dog, Zeke, and the simple ways that the family continues to honor her memory.
