Tony Alcorn is living proof that organ donation can restore health and hope. His double transplant gave him not just more years to his life; they added life to his years.

“I lived an active and athletic lifestyle until congestive heart failure slowed me down,” Tony said. “I went from being able to walk 18 holes of golf at altitude to struggling to walk 20 yards without having to stop to catch my breath.”

As his condition progressed, it became harder for his heart to pump blood, eventually causing his only kidney to fail. Dialysis became part of daily life, and doctors told him he had fewer than two years to live without a transplant.

Just two months after being placed on the transplant waiting list, a matching donor was found. In March 2024, he underwent a lifesaving heart and kidney transplant.

Today, Tony is back to living the active life he loves, no longer defined by illness.

“Although I know little about my donor or how many people she helped, I am deeply grateful,” he said. “I’m healthy and active again because someone chose to give the Gift of Life.”
